Poem by 11-class teen will change your attitude to life

The poem “Worst Day Ever?” by 11-class school student Chanie Gorkin will change your attitude to life. Read it first to know why and how.

Poem by Chanie Gorkin, 11-class teen that will change your attitude to life. 'The Worst Day Ever?'
Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don't try to convince me that
There's something good in every day
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place.
Even if
Some goodness does shine through once in a while
Satisfaction and happiness don't last.
And it's not true that
It's all in the mind and heart
Because
True happiness can be attained
Only if one's surroundings are good
It's not true that good exists I'm sure you can agree that
The reality
Creates
My attitude It's all beyond my control
And you'll never in a million years hear me say
Today was a very good day
Now read it from bottom to top, the other way,
And see what I really feel about my day.

The peculiarity of the poem is that it can be read line by line in both directions: top to bottom and bottom to top. The traditional way of reading creates a pessimistic mood. In that way the poem seem an emotional outpouring of a lonely person beaten by hardship of life and completely disillusioned.

But… the moment one starts reading the poem from the bottom to the top, it turns life-affirming, inspires and teaches us that everything is possible, we just need to believe in ourselves.

The young poet Chanie Gorkin studies in 11th class of a high school in Brooklyn, New York. The student published the literature creation on a poetry website. The poem is titled “Worse Day Ever?” It has immediately gone viral on social media websites. Over 1.3 million users have viewed the unusual reverse poem by Chanie Gorkin.
